Xylia Allen sends the 570m track-record at Horsham into outer space
Three-time Group 1 winner and Victorian Greyhound of the Year in 2013, Xylia Allen, further enhanced her reputation at Horsham last night, breaking the 570m track-record running 31.93s.
Trained by Jenny Hunt of Lara, Xylia Allen has been racing predominantly over the middle distances throughout 2014 having bypassed the Group 1 Australian Cup series at The Meadows.
Jason Thompson’s Phenomenal broke the track-record in December, when the powerful brindle stopped the clock at 32.08s over the 570m, with Xylia Allen smashing that record by some 0.15s.
Leading race-caller Rob Testa was gobsmacked after calling the dominative chaser over the line and seeing the result displayed on the semaphore board.
“The time has come up as 31.93 (seconds) so not only has she broken the track-record she has sent it to outer space!”
It was the third track-record of her career, after breaking the Launceston 515 metre record in early and the Geelong 596 metre record in consecutive runs in February 2013.
