Michael Kiely’s Shaneboy Frankie (Westmead Mentor/ Shaneboy Maria) was the winner of the €6,800 Red Mills Unraced Stake at Clonmel on Sunday.

The pattern of the race was set at the opening bend where half the field was involved in trouble and fast starting Express Max led into the back from Shaneboy Frankie and Liosgarbh Tom.

That order remained the same down the back but Shaneboy looked dangerous in second. In a thrilling finale Shaneboy Frankie nosed ahead in the final yards and took the prize by half a length from Express Max in 28.91 with Liosgarbh Tom some two lengths back in third.

No doubt we’ll see many of the finalists in action in the Kirby Memorial at Limerick, particularly the winner which is, of course, bred, owned and trained in the county.

Graham Holland’s Sidarian Lisa (Ace Hi Rumble/ Yahoo Stacey) gave notice that she is going to be a major player in the top six bend events this season when winning the final of the Greyhound & Pet World Open 790. She broke fast and led all the way to win by two and a half lengths from Kathleens Holly in 44.21 with Plutos Hawk some four lengths back in third. Owned by the Sidarian Syndicate, Sidarian Lisa had only made her marathon debut in the semi-final after previously finishing third behind Paradise Madison in the final of the Shelbourne Open 575.

The other open final was to the Christys Bolt Bitch Stake and here the Neilus O’Connell trained Razldazl Amy (Razldazl Billy/ Local Mol) was an all the way winner in 28.94. Razldazl Amy rode a bump on the opening bend but led down the far side from Express Micro and held that rival by a short head with Melodys Diamond staying on to be a six length third.

Michael Dwan’s Borna Central (Westmead Hawk/ Borna Magic) finished strongly to win the final of the Suirview Kennels A2/3 Stake in 28.88. Native Gypsy cut out a goosd gallop here but Borna proved too strong as he came home a length and a half in front.

Pat Dalton got among the winners as his bitch Skilled Spree (College Causeway/ Spending Spree) led all the way in winning the Sporting Press A1 550 by two lengths from Haughtyvanpersie in 30.09.
