Matt’s Entity (Vee Man Vane x Top Entity) will be carrying the hopes of an entire town on their shoulders when they contest the Group 2 Bendigo Cup on Sunday night.

He is the only hobby trainer with a finalist in the Bendigo Cup. McKenzie lives in Bendigo and runs his own rendering business while training a small team of greyhounds.

Matt’s Entity, who is drawn in Box 8, will be an underdog in the race. He has, however, chalked up brilliant record of 32 wins from just 54 starts,

Matt’s Entity has a tough challenge ahead of him as champion trio Paw Licking, Black Magic Opal and reigning Bendigo Cup winner Ronan Izmir are drawn side by side in boxes 1, 2 and 3 respectively in the final.

Black Magic Opal broke the 425m track record in his heat, recording a time of 23.42sec, while Matt’s Entity ran 23.65sec.

Scott McKenzie said “It’s an honour just to have a greyhound competing against these dogs because they are the best greyhound in the country” .

“Matt’s Entity was bred in Victoria, started his career in NSW and was then sold to Tasmania”. McKenzie purchased the greyhound from Tasmania for $15,000 after he had amassed 10 wins.

The greyhound has won 22 races for McKenzie and earned $40,000 in prize money for him.

$43,750 first prize for the Winner of the Bendigo Cup final.
