Dolores Ruth’s Razldazl Luke made a successful debut on the metropolitan circuit when a most impressive winner of a Grade 5 contest at Sandown Park yesterday.
Having scored two wins from four outings on the country tracks Ballarat and Warragul, Luke was moved to Sandown in order to compete over four bends and he caused quite a stir with his 29.54 run over the 515 metres.
Luke went off the second favourite and actually bumped with Empire Allen leaving traps. But Razldazl Luke then moved up strongly to be third into the corner and he went between the two leaders to hit the front entering the back straight.
From here he was too strong for his rivals and came home three and a quarter lengths in front of the favourite Mepunga Fearon and Soho Rhythm.
The Melbourne Cup is next on the agenda for the son of Razldazl Billy and Local Mol.
