SATURDAY night saw the completion of round two of the Ladbrokes.com Irish Greyhound Derby at Shelbourne Park and fastest qualifier on the night was Dolores Ruth’s Makeshift, who took heat 15 by four lengths in a sizzling 29.56sec.

Tyrur Big Mike had looked impressive when winning the previous heat in 29.74sec as did Thurlsbeg Joker when clocking 29.70sec in the third of tonights qualifiers. Colourful Champ had no trouble in landing odds of 2-7 in the opener clocking 29.80sec.

Heat two on the night (heat 10) saw BurnEm Up win by a neck in a modest 30.16sec while Milly Marina’s 30.06sec success in heat 12 was no more than workmanlike. Local Dee Jay recorded a useful 29.84 in beating the well-supported Monlesa Alsatio in the thirteenth and finally Mesedo Blue took thelast in 29.98sec.
